Braided Hardwearing Rugs

The hardwearing rugs are crafted in America, at the base of the Blue Ridge mountains. Mr A. Leon Capel created his first one almost 100 years ago, and the Capel company still adhere to the same values and methods to craft each of their rugs to this day, although the choice of colours and shapes on offer has only grown and grown.

The Capel American braided rug is the definition of true craftsmanship. That’s because all of the braids are individually made to an extremely high standard at Capel’s plant. Unlike other makers of braided products who use a large filler wrapped in yarn to create their braids, Capel braids comprise more than 80% surface yarns, with just a small filler inside. This makes the hardwearing rugs far more durable and means that you are never going to have the problem where rugs become patchy as the filler begins to show through underneath the yarn.

Capel dye their own yarns on site and wrap them to create their own high-quality braids. They then stitch the braids together individually, winding them round in careful circles to create the perfect oval shape. Each and every braid in the rug has to pass a quality inspection and if it isn’t perfect, it doesn’t get sent out!

The hand-crafted nature of these American braided rugs means that no two are quite the same. The way in which the colours are distributed through the braids will vary slightly from rug to rug, so each one is unique to you.
